The 2018 Ford Mustang packing more power, 10-speed tranny and next level technology available in Orange Fury!
Its confirm that the previously released video footage was actually by FoMoCo. And now today Ford has finally revealed the refreshed 2018 Mustang. Besides the appearance, Ford took the opportunity and upgraded the hardware and made new revisions to maintain the high profile in the market especially when it comes to the technology.
Let’s start with the appearance first. The front end from A-pillar forward is completely redesigned. It may seem subtle how a trained eye will pick up the changes. Sporting a new sleeker look thanks to advancement ford has gathered from the wind tunnel. The fenders are new and they wrap around the wheels closing the gaps. Ford is happy to call it an athletic design as Ford signs up with ‘The Rock’ Dwayne Johnson as the brand ambassador. The headlights are now LEDs rather than HIDs and are standard across the Mustang range and so are the LED fog lights. In the rear taillights are revised and now complimented with LEDs retaining the hallmark sequential function.
2018 Ford Mustang V8 GT
Two new colors have been added for 2018 most of Mustangs shown in the images are either in Orange Fury or a deep Kona Blue. There also 12 different wheels to choose from depending upon the trim.
Digitally yours, Interior.
The interior is the place where people spend most of the time while driving so this has to be a special place for the driver and the occupants. The biggest change 2018 Mustang received is the 12” LCD screen replacing the old instrument cluster. This is also Ford’s first as well. The digital screen (similar to Audi) is fully customizable and can be easily personalized, offering three separate views. The driver can personalize the displays for normal, sport and track mode. All-new Mustang MyMode with memory function allows customers to save their favorite drive settings, including suspension and steering preferences.
And now get this: the new Mustang is so customizable that even its engine note can be adjusted. Yes now you can enjoy the unmistakable Mustang and delight yourself with aural pleasure or if there’s more important sitting next to you, you shut it off and continue to enjoy the intimate company of your fellow passenger. An all-new active valve exhaust system is optional on Mustang GT, with a fully variable soundtrack to match the entire acceleration range.
Having said that Ford is now also offering a variety of cabin detailing. You can now order your Mustang with The instrument panel surround has been refreshed with four new aluminum finishes: Silver Arrow, Engine Spun, Angled Brush and Linked Graphite. There’s also a Carbon Fiber Sport Interior Package.
Under the Skin
Ford really took the opportunity and heavily revised the hardware of the 2018 Mustang. Gone is the 3.7l V6. so the only two engines remaining are the 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder and the heart thumping 5.0 Coyote V8. This legendary 5.0-liter V8 engine has been thoroughly reworked. It is more powerful and revs higher than any Mustang GT before. This power increase was achieved with the first application for Mustang of Ford’s new dual-fuel, high-pressure direct injection and low-pressure port fuel injection on a V8 engine – delivering robust low-end torque, high-rpm power, and improved fuel efficiency.
The manual transmission for both engine options has been upgraded for optimal torque. For the V8, the manual transmission has been totally redesigned to include a twin-disc clutch and dual-mass flywheel to increase torque capability and deliver more efficient clutch modulation.
The new 10-speed automatic transmission, available with both EcoBoost and V8 engines, is the best automatic Mustang has ever offered. With a wide-ratio span and optimized gear spacing, this rapid shifting gearbox optimized for Mustang helps deliver higher average power for acceleration – improving responsiveness and performance.
MagneRide damper technology which was only available with Shelby GT350 is now a new option with the Mustang Performance Package to optimize ride and handling in all situations. however, we don’t know yet whether there will be 10 speed transmission will be available with the Mustang Performance Package or not. At the moment Ford has not released any numbers relating to the engine performance and the pricing.
The 2018 Ford Mustang will go on sale globally by fall 2017
